The Bill of Rights

The Bill of Rights is in the Constitution of the United States. The Bill of Rights consists of the first 10 constitutional amendments, which outline our basic rights as american citizens.
1st Amendment

The 1st amendment of the constitution states that we have the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of press, and freedom of assembly. Speaking out of the government is not treasonous in the United States.
2nd Amendment

The second amendment of the constitution states that we have the right to bear arms. Guns are legal to own in the United States and it's provinces.
3rd Amendment

The third amendment of the constitution states that no soldier shall quarter your house without the permission of the homeowner. This means that if a soldier would like to stay in your house during a time of war or peace, they must have permission from the people that live in the house.
4th Amendment

The fourth amendment of the constitution states that the government cannot seize your property. It also states that the government may not unreasonably search your property. A warrant is required from the police for such a search.
5th Amendment

The fifth amendment of the constitution states that you have the right to remain silent. Arrested individuals are not forced to speak by anybody about a crime. Also, there is to be no double jeopardy. Nobody is to be tried for the exact same crime more than once.
6th Amendment
The sixth amendment of the constitution states that you have the right to fair and speedy trial. Trial must come quickly, and the prisoner cannot be held for a long time before his trial.
7th Ammendment

The seventh amendment of the constitution states that you have the right to a trial by jury. Any criminal must be tried by a jury of their peers.
8th Amendment

The eighth amendment of the constitution states that there is to be no cruel or unusual punishment. Also, there is to be no excessive bail placed upon someone.
9th Amendment

The 9th amendment states that people have certain unlisted rights. Simple rights that everyone naturally has. For example, you have the right to ride a bike, you have the right to take a shower, you have the right to ride the bus, etc.
10th Amendment

The 10th amendment of the constitution states that powers not given to the federal government are given to the states. For example, in some states, you have to be 16 years of age to obtain your drivers licence. In other states, the age is higher.
